What it is
An IPO is a company's first public sale of shares. In Nepal you apply through C-ASBA, the system CDSC runs for SEBON: your bank blocks the money in your account instead of taking it, and only deducts it if you're allotted shares.
Most people apply on Meroshare using a CRN from their bank. The minimum application is 10 units, usually Rs 1,000 at the standard Rs 100 price.
Who needs it
- Anyone with a demat account, Meroshare login and a bank account with a CRN.

How it works
- 1
Watch for an open issue
In Meroshare, go to My ASBA. Open issues appear under Apply for Issue with the share type, price and closing date.
- 2
Apply
Choose the issue, select your bank and account, enter the number of units (at least 10), your CRN and transaction PIN, then submit.
- 3
Check the application report
Under My ASBA, open the application report. It should change to Verified with "Amount Blocked" within a day or two. If it still shows Unverified or Rejected on the second day, call your bank.
- 4
Fix a rejection before the issue closes
If the bank couldn't block the money, add funds and use Re-Apply. You can't do this after the closing date.
- 5
Check the result
After allotment the report shows Allotted with the number of units, or Not Allotted. Blocked money for units you didn't get is released.

Common problems
My status says "Disqualified due to duplicate application".
You applied for the same issue from more than one demat account. All your applications for that issue are cancelled.
Why did I get nothing even though I applied correctly?
Popular IPOs are oversubscribed many times. Applicants are picked by lottery and winners usually get the minimum 10 units.
I work abroad. Is there a special quota?
Yes. Most IPOs reserve 10 percent for Nepalis working abroad with a labour permit. You need a foreign employment savings or remittance account at a bank, with remittance received through official channels, plus a demat account and Meroshare. The quota has its own application window.
The money is still blocked after the result.
If the status shows "Amount Released Failed", contact your bank.
