Short answer
Use the Nepal Medical Council's Find Registered Doctor search at nmc.org.np. Search by the doctor's full name or NMC number and check the registration and degree match what they claim. Every doctor practising in Nepal must be registered with the council. Ask for the NMC number, which is often printed on prescriptions and clinic boards. If a doctor won't give you their NMC number, see someone else.

Common problems
The doctor isn't on the register.
Don't take treatment from them. Report it to the Nepal Medical Council or the police.
How do I complain about a doctor?
Write to the Nepal Medical Council with your details, the doctor's name and NMC number and what happened. For harm or overcharging at a hospital you can also use the consumer complaint process.
Does registration mean the doctor is good?
It means they're legally qualified. It doesn't measure skill or experience, so ask about their specialty and training too.
