What it is
Tribhuvan University's Institute of Engineering (IOE) runs one entrance exam for its bachelor's in engineering (BE) and architecture (BArch). Your rank decides which campus and programme you can join, and whether you get a regular or full-fee seat.
The exam is now computer-based: 100 objective questions, one mark each, over two hours. The figures here are from the 2083 notice. Dates and fees are announced each year on the IOE entrance site.
Who needs it
- Students who want to study engineering or architecture at a Tribhuvan University campus such as Pulchowk or Thapathali, or at one of its affiliated colleges.

Apply online
Fill in the form on entrance.ioe.edu.np during the window. In 2083 it was open from 23 Ashadh to 1 Shrawan.

Pay the fee
Pay Rs 2,500 through connectIPS, eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay or a bank voucher at the bank named in the notice, before the fee deadline.

Download your admit card
Your admit card and exam slot appear in the portal before the exam.

Sit the exam
A two-hour computer-based test of 100 objective questions in mathematics, physics, chemistry and English. Each wrong answer loses 5 percent of a mark. In 2083 exams started on 11 Shrawan.

Check the merit list and admission
IOE publishes the merit list and admission schedule on the same site. Seats at constituent campuses are filled by rank, with regular and full-fee places.

Common problems
Where are the exam centres?
In 2083 they were at the IOE ICT centre in Pulchowk, Thapathali Campus, Paschimanchal Campus in Pokhara and Purwanchal Campus in Dharan.
I'm waiting for my +2 grade increment result.

How do I pay if I don't have a wallet?
Use a voucher at the bank named in the notice. Pay before the fee deadline, which can be earlier in the day than the form deadline.
