Short answer
Rs 19,550 a month for workers covered by the Labour Act, made up of Rs 12,170 basic pay and Rs 7,380 dearness allowance. The daily rate is Rs 754 and the hourly rate Rs 101, or Rs 107 an hour for part-time workers. It came into force on 1 Shrawan 2082 and is reviewed every two years. Tea estates have a separate, lower rate. Your employer's provident fund, gratuity and festival allowance are worked out on your basic pay and come on top.

Tea estate workers have a separate rate of Rs 13,893 a month. The previous national minimum, before Shrawan 2082, was Rs 17,300.
Common problems
My employer pays me less than the minimum.
That breaks the Labour Act. Ask in writing first. If it isn't fixed, take your claim to the Labour Office for your area, which can mediate and decide on it.
Does the minimum include overtime?
No. Overtime is paid separately at 1.5 times your basic hourly pay.
Does it apply to government jobs?
No. Civil servants, the army and police have their own pay scales set by the government.
When will it change next?
The Labour Act requires a review every two years, so the next change would normally come around Shrawan 2084. Check for a new notice in the Nepal Gazette.
