How to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for studying abroad

What it is
The No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology confirms you're allowed to go abroad to study. In practice its most important use is at the bank: Nepali banks need it before they'll send tuition fees or hold money for your visa.
Apply after you have your offer letter and before you need to pay the institution.

How it works

Register on the NOC portal
Create an account on the Ministry of Education's NOC website.

Fill in the application
Enter your study details: country, institution, course and level.

Upload documents and pay
Upload your offer letter and academic documents, then pay the fee online.

Wait for verification
The Ministry checks the documents. If something's missing, you'll be asked to resubmit.

Download the NOC
Once approved, download it and take it to your bank to send fees abroad.

Common problems

Don't pay. The NOC is applied for online and there's no official express fee. Report requests for money to the CIAA.
