Where can I get tested for HIV or STIs in Nepal?
HIV testing and treatment are free at government facilities across Nepal. Where to go in Kathmandu, and why to act within 72 hours after a possible exposure.
छोटो उत्तर
HIV testing and counselling are free at government testing centres in every district, and HIV treatment (ART) is free for everyone who needs it. In Kathmandu, Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku has HIV and STI services. If you think you were exposed to HIV in the last 72 hours, go to a hospital emergency department straight away and ask about PEP, medicine that can stop infection. WHO advises starting it as early as possible, ideally within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours. Results are kept confidential.
