Short answer
If you're going back to the same employer after leave, apply for a re-entry labour permit (पुनः श्रम स्वीकृति) through the Department of Foreign Employment's online system. You need your passport, valid visa or work permit for the country and proof you're returning to the same job. Get it before you fly: leaving without a valid labour permit removes your protection and insurance.
The details
What you need
- Passport with at least the validity the destination requires.
- Valid visa or residence permit for the country.
- Proof of returning to the same employer, such as your employment contract or an ID from the company.
- Contribution to the Foreign Employment Welfare Fund and insurance, as listed by the system.
Good to know
Changing employers or countries is not a re-entry case. It needs a new labour permit, usually through a licensed agency or an approved individual process.
